While I was out walking and running this past morning I felt good knowing how blessed I am to be able to move my body without the assistance of another or some type of medical device. As I was walking I began to think about how our bodies talk to us, wondering how many people actually take the time to listen to their bodies. We hear songs that talk about the figure of women's bodies and how they are considered brick houses, bad mama jamas, how men and women have what is known as six-pack or stacked abs. Have you ever thought of the importance of how our bodies are the temple of the Holy Spirit? We all need to pay special attention with how we flex our bodies and go about our daily regiments with exercising both our physical man as well as our spiritual man. The Apostle Paul stated that "bodily exercise profited little, but godliness is profitable unto all things... I Timothy 4:8. He was not condemning bodily exercise as much as he was stressing the importance of being godly and being spiritually fit is even more important than physical fitness.
The physical stamina and the physical pounding while exercising can be painful at times, however the results of being physically fit can be beneficial to our overall health conditions to improve or deal with the different health care challenges we may have. Daily physical exercises and activities help stimulate and circulate blood flow throughout our mind, body, and spirit. Physical fitness helps produce creative juices to keep us active with our mental alertness. While mentally alert we are able to view things from different perspectives while pursuing certain goals and dreams that we may aspire to do now or in near future. Physical fitness helps us with losing unwanted weight and fat that appears because of a lack of physical activities. If we do what we need for our bodies to stay in top shape, then the same should hold true to stay in good spiritual shape. Just as exercising is good for the body; the same is necessary with exercising our spiritual man so we can produce spirituality that can produces Godly character.
Being Godly men and women of character goes further than any physical fitness program. Notice how your mind tells your body what to do, we spiritually condition our minds on what to think, how to act and we should live in such a manner that it should bring glory to God and not shame. When we begin to experience spiritual fitness and allow God to speak through us then being in good physical shape as well as spiritual shape will make the whole body appear to be in perfect condition. Exercise the mind, body, soul, and spirit to stay physically and spiritually fit to make a difference in a world that is contaminated with lust and filth. The impact you could have on society can change one life at a time if you were to exercise your God given talents and abilities. " Do not neglect the gift that is in you, which was given to you by prophecy, with the laying on of hands of the eldership. Meditate upon these things, give yourself entirely to them; that your progress may be evident to all. Take heed to yourself, and to the doctrine. Continue in them: for in doing this you will both save yourself, and those who hear you."
